Via di Ripetta runs parallel to the Tiber between Piazza del Popolo and the Ara Pacis, and 200 metres is the whole walk to the piazza. Five hundred metres takes you to Piazza di Spagna and to Via dei Condotti. That is about as central as Rome gets without being on a street that fills with coaches at ten in the morning.
Seventy-eight rooms and suites, from 24 up to 67 square metres — 721 square feet at the top — around a courtyard in a 17th-century palazzo, now a Relais & Châteaux house. One thing to ask for by name: only the Luxury Apartment category has a kitchenette. Everything else is a hotel room, however large, and for a stay of weeks that is the question to settle before you book.
A practical note, because it will cost you an hour otherwise: this address published for years as Residenza di Ripetta and the old domain no longer belongs to the hotel. The site above is the current one, and the number is the house.
Who it suits: a first long stay in Rome that wants the northern end of the centre, a courtyard to come back to, and a kitchenette if you ask for the right category.
